5th Annual Seattle Snowboard Movie Premier

aaaaaaaaaah The Showbox, a place we’ve all grown to know and love. The best place to see a Seattle concert and the home of the 5th Annual Seattle Snowbord Movie Premier.

For 99.9% of seattle it was a September night just like any other but for the rest of us it was the night of all nights, when Mack Dawg rolls out their latest concoction of snowsliding, witty audio commentary, beers and good times.
This year we got an extra special treat, “Double Decade” was to close the show. For those of you who’ve been around the block (and back by now) you should be familiar with “Decade”. If not, Google it. From the guys who brought snowboarding from the hill to our living rooms, the crew who showed us really what “Simple Pleasures” are in this life, came a creation known as “Decade”, a tribute to the 10 years that had gotten us (snowboarders) to the point at which we were at back in 1998… Fast forward to this last Saturday where we celebrated “Double Decade” and 20 years of snowboarding with Mack Dawg Productions.
All the warm fuzzies and history aside, if you were at the show you had to feel the energy and stoke from the massive lines that crawled the block around the Showbox that started from the front of the venue, creeped up 1st avenue and around the backside. It was an incredible site. Anyone remember when lines were almost non-existant at premeirs? I do, so that’s why a couple of us went for some raw fish down at Ohana while the lines died down. A couple Sapporo’s, some Unagi and edamames later and we tried to make a fashionably late appearance but it was still lined up around the building. Wow.
So again in an effort to ditch the lines we rolled into the Green Room (bar) next to the showbox to grab some drinks until the line died down. There we found ourselves shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the industry who had apparently been thinking the exact same thing. It was cool though, all the people you don’t see all summer long were there… reps, riders, homies, friends from other shops and the regulars. Drinks weren’t cheap but conversation was worth its weight in gold… as were the films.
Big shout outs to our friends at Capita, K2, Snocon, The Summit @ Snoqualmie, and many more!! Make sure to check out the films as they hit your city and if you miss the premier definitely pick them up on DVD!
…the countdown is on!
