As if a planned prelude to this weekend’s happy sunny springy weather, friends gathered at evo Friday night for Manik’s “Look Back” gallery opening.
Manik, a Seattle based skateboard company, showcased hundres of photos plus a few skate decks in the TimesInfinity gallery while a couple of skate flicks played on the large screen in the store, which had been cleared out for the showing. The night was all about looking back, but the the retrospective event also emphasized the future of skateboarding.
The two films documented the early history of Manik and how they’ve changed and grown over the years. The multimedia event gave viewers a perspective with which they could better understand and appreciate the progression of the sport and skate culture in general.
The night was as refreshing inside evo as it was outside – lots of new faces, hype for sunny skate weather, fresh brews from Pyramid and healthier drinks from Honest Tea. And no party is complete without an afterparty, so people headed to Capitol Hill and ended the night at the War Room.
Looks like this warm sunny weather is a tease here in Seattle - it won’t be around much longer. “Look Back” will be around through the end of the month, though, so be sure to swing by evo and take a look.
