Saturday, September 12, 2009 - Although Seattle may still be setting toasty weather records, the King Cat Theater welcomed in winter with tall tees, beanies and the world premiere of the Triple Threat Tour including “Contrast” by Nimbus and “Everyday is a Saturday” by Poor Boyz Productions.
The day started with an athlete signing here at evo where stoked shredders enjoyed free autographed posters and photos from pros Pep Fujas, Dane Tudor, Sammy Carlson, Eric Pollard and others.
Following the signing and a VIP sushi dinner at Red Finn downtown, the party started at 7:00pm complete with red carpet treatment, great athlete turnout, VIP entrances and live web coverage hosted by Mike Douglas. Hoots and hollers, loud music and free gear throw outs had the audience on their feet before the world premiere of “Contrast.”
Rivaling some of the best big mountain footage of all time, “Contrast” is a film that shows more than just the contemporary jump, rail, jib lifestyle. “Contrast” inspires the likes of every type of skier to get out there simply because it’s fun. Plus, watching skiers Pep Fujas, Eric Pollard, Chris Benchetler, Andy Mahre and Blake Nyman drop huge steeps and backcountry pillow lines is pretty fun too. Following “Contrast,” tons more free swag was thrown out to the audience, both kids and adults dove over one another to score free helmets, beanies and posters. A lucky few scored skis from K2, Atomic, and Salomon – some even signed by the pros.
“Everyday is a Saturday” kicked off with loud music, mind-blowing tricks, road gaps, and cliff drops. With skiing from Tanner Hall, Simon Dumont, Dane Tudor and many more of the best in the business, you can expect big things. These guys are acrobats in the air and left many chins hanging on the ground. Where will they go from here?
From AK spines to X Games half pipe competitions, the Triple Threat Tour captured the whole experience of skiing and I’m positive that no skier left the theatre without wishing away this 80 degree September. Snow anyone?
Thanks to everyone who joined us for the signing here at evo, and the world premiere of Triple Threat at the King Cat Theater. Special shout outs to Poor Boyz Productions, Nimbus, Salomon, K2, Atomic, Red Finn and Hotel Max, Oakley, Nike 6.0, Helly Hansen, Freeskier Magazine, Dragon, Dakine, the King Cat Theater and everyone else involved.
