Last week, the entire skateboarding community found themselves mourning the untimely death of Erik Stricker, editor of Transworld SKATEboard, who passed away early last week.
Stricker joined the Transworld SKATEboard family in 2002 where he quickly made a name for himself as an incredibly hard worker and devoted friend. His passion for skateboarding came through every page of the magazine, and his love for his friends and family was truly admirable.
Eric will be sorely missed. We have his family and friends in our thoughts.
The Skateboard Film Festival is a collaborative effort by some of the industry’s most respected entrepreneurs, filmmakers, photographers, and skateboarders. It was brought about to promote independent film making in the skateboard community at large. It is open to the entire public by way of video submissions, and there will be several categories by which each film maker can submit his or her video short or full-length movie. Videos are carefully selected by a panel of judges and some 40-60 will be shown during the film festival weekend.
In a nutshell, The Skateboard Film Festival’s seeks to celebrate skateboarding and skateboard filmmaking.

Anyone notice that the Greenlake skate park has been a little quieter now that the Seattle Center Park opened… a couple of us took advantage of this and i cruised down with Randa Shahin (evo team rider), Erykah and Ilana in town from Mt. Hood on their way up to Whistler. I took some pics and we actually ran into one of our newest athletes Lysander (my lil’ homie w/ dreads in the photos). Check out some photos and come hang out w/ us at the park sometime soon.
Thanks to everyone who made it out to Skate Like A Girl’s skate demo at the new Skate Park in the Seattle Center during “Bite This“. It was cool to see all the different levels of skaters out there and the ladies were killin’ it.
If you missed out, don’t sweat it! S.L.A.G. will be hosting Ladies Night’s from 4-9pm every Tues, Wed, Sat during July-Sept.
