September 23, 2009- It’s safe to say that the premier was one of a kind for sure! An outdoor venue in Seattle (?!?!?) in the parking lot of Havana’s was a definite first for the crowd. On top of that it was an amazing/perfect day and night to feature Videograss and The Airblaster Movie.

A little Absinthe for Seattle this weekend!

absinthe premierFor those of you familiar with the Absinthe crew and the films they’ve got under their belt I’m sure you are/were excited as I was for this showing. Not only was I pretty excited about my first snowboard movie premier of the season, I was definitely looking forward to checking out the King Cat Theater for the first time. Was a little nervous, too - it sounded a little posh for a snowboard movie premier.

The theater itself had a discrete, rustic exterior. Once inside the front doors, though, the space was clad with some mod furniture and there was a good vibe in the bar, which had large windows that peered to the streets of downtown seattle. After setting up some banners a couple of us hooved it down to the Lava Lounge for some drinks then got our grub on at the Noodle House (yum, btw). By the time we got back to the King Cat (fashionably late of course) there was a lineup all the way out the door, and the bar was slammed… literally overflowing the railed off section that the barstaff was trying to confine the drinkers to.

For a hot summer day it was surprising to see so many people cramming through the doors. It was still pretty light out at this point. Blair Habenicht, Wolfgang Nyvelt, Matt Beardmore were kind enough to sign autographs for the kids, the Spacecraft bunny made an appearance and Monster was getting us all hopped up on unnecessary levels of sugar. It wouldn’t be a premier without energy I suppose! Because so many of you slacked on coming down to the shop for pre-sale tickets, there was a massive backup out front for people buying tickets so they held off rolling the film at the scheduled 8p. But that was okay because there was plenty of entertainment. The mandatory raffle took place, there was some freestyle rappin, arm wrestling and handstands (no, really!).

So yeah, there was no real absinthe in Seattle - as far as i know that stuff is still not legal here. BUT the flick was the big mountain-deliciousness that we’ve all grown to know and love Absinthe for. We don’t want to spoil it so get out there and get the DVD!
